How to survive Crufts 2022?
It’s not long now until the world’s greatest dog show takes place, you know what we’re talking about……CRUFTS 2022!
Are you excited? Do you have your shopping list ready? Have you looked at what displays you might want to watch in the main arena?
Here are our top tips on how to survive Crufts!
1. Make a shopping list
Get organised and spend time on the Crufts website beforehand to see which companies will be trading there. Here is a link to the Crufts Shopping Directory. Visit their individual websites and make a list of the items you would really like to buy or the stands you'd like to visit and note their Hall and stand number. It can get a tad overwhelming for some when you’re wondering around and maybe you’ll miss some products your pooch would really like if you have to rush off and watch your favourite display, so best to plan ahead to avoid disappointment!
2. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes
It's a long day at Crufts and on top of walking from stand to stand and then to
displays, there is very little seating available for visitors, so wear practical shoes and layer up with your clothing as you'll feel hot, then cold in different spots. Also bring a light bag so you’re not tired from carrying all your bits and pieces around because the cloakrooms might not be anywhere near where you are.
3. Go shopping first
If you're organised and know what you want to buy in advance, then plan to get your shopping over and done with at the beginning of the day. You can then drop your purchases off back at your car or in the cloakroom and leave yourself free to enjoy all the other entertainment and showing. Trade stands start getting very crowded from lunchtime onwards, so if you don't want to do battle to see things or queue for ages to pay, then we’d advise to shop early.
4. Bring food and drinks with you
Bring some snacks and drinks with you or be prepared to pay £20 for a coffee and sarnie (yikes - would rather buy a new harness) and just as a pre-warning as you're never more than ten inches from the next person, maybe give the garlic and onion a miss that day!
5. Be aware when taking pictures
There is a lot going on for these dogs that are attending and of course competing, including the nervous/excited owners. We have heard before, owners request that people please turn off their flashes when taking photos of the dogs close up because this can freak some out and no one wants that on competition day.
6. Ask before patting
Ask before you ruffle, cuddle, or stroke a competing dog, especially a poodle who’s ready to go into the ring as the owner may bite!
We absolutely love watching Crufts and our very own co-founder Steph has even competed here in the past, it’s a wonderful event and we are very jealous of everyone going this year! We hope you all have a lovely time and are looking
forward to seeing your pictures and purchases.
